Scabies

As a result of the bite of a mite Sarcoptes scaibiei, it causes intense itching in the area where it has bitten, especially at night.

The females of this mite form small tunnels under the skin where it lays the eggs, the larvae can spread to other areas of the body.

If it is the first time you are infected with scabies, the symptoms take about three weeks to manifest, but if the disease has already passed, the symptoms do not take more than four days to appear.

Scabies is not a dangerous disease but it is very contagious, you have to be careful not to infect family members, colleagues. To do this, the closest family is usually treated with medicines to prevent expansion.

Symptoms:

  • Grooves in the folds
  • Intense itching especially in the evenings
  • Thin blisters or bumps on the skin

The most common areas where we find the bite of scabies is in the armpits, around the waist, wrists, elbows, soles of the feet, buttocks, knees, near the male genitalia or surrounding the breasts in women.

The head, palms and feet are the areas that affect infants and children.

The treatment of scabies with drugs such as permethrin, is very effective, it kills the mite and eggs, the itching usually lasts several weeks after the medication.

Scabies causes intense scratching to relieve itching, but there is a danger of causing wounds or ulcers that can become infected and aggravate the situation.
